Frequently Asked Questions

Will I receive a confirmation that my students are enrolled in their After School Activities?
Yes.  Confirmations will be emailed to the email address provided on the registration form within one week after the registration deadline.   Please ensure the address is accurate and legible; and allow one week before contacting PTA coordinators to inquire about enrollment.

Can my child bring a snack for after school?
Students may bring a water bottle from home and enjoy a brief, nut-free, healthy snack at the teacher's discretion.

Is bus service offered for After School Activities kids?
Yes.  Forms are available on the PTA web-site (www.waynethomaspta.com).  Please return them to Miss C in the front office as soon as possible. Arrangements must be made with the district 5 days prior to the start of classes.

What if someone brings a lunch containing nuts at Lunch Bunch?
The student will be asked to eat his or her lunch in the office.

If weather conditions cause a cancellation of After School Activities, how will I be notified?
We will post an announcement on our blog here, but you will likely also hear from the front office and the Superintendent of District 112.

It's past the registration deadline.  Can we still sign up for a class?
If the class is not full, the answer is likely yes, especially if it needs a couple extra students to run.  However we ask parents to respect the registration deadline for the following reasons:

1. The vendors need an accurate class list to make sure classes are adequately staffed and can plan accordingly; for example, if a class is populated by mostly 1st graders, it may take a different path than if it's filled with mostly 4th graders.
2. If a class does not meet its minimum enrollment, we need to cancel it.  It is easier on both vendors and families to know this as soon as possible.  Late registrations create delays in making such a decision.
3. The teachers and office require an accurate class list by the time classes start.  They need to know where each child is expected to be after school (e.g., bus, home, playdate, after school activities).  Every time a late registration comes in we have to update and redistribute the class list for both vendor and school; you can imagine the possible confusion it may cause with several versions of a class list being circulated.
4. It's just plain difficult to manage so much paper and checks.  When they come trickling in after the deadline it's hard get them in the right place at the right time and delays the confirmation process for other families.

What is the difference between the Wayne Thomas PTA After School Activities and the ASAP program that Oak Terrace hosts?
ASAP is an after school program located at Oak Terrace.  In the past, ASAP extends enrollment to Wayne Thomas student and provides a bus to take students to Oak Terrace after school.  The Wayne Thomas PTA does not organize this activity and does not have detailed contact or registration information.  Please ask at the front office if you would like to learn more about this program.

What if my child requires an aide for After School Activities?
Please inform the office as soon as possible - upon registration.

My child has food allergies.  Is his/her Epi-Pen available after school?
The teacher in the office has access to medications that are authorized for use at school and are stored in the nurse's office.  However, it is the parents' responsibility to inform the instructor of each class the child is in of his / her allergies or other relevant medical conditions.
